From Finance to Fashion — DAI in Fox Business News

On 15 October 2018, our founder Joanna Dai visited the Fox Business News studios where she went on-air to share her journey to legendary business news anchor Maria Bartiromo on her morning show, “Mornings with Maria“.

An inspirational female TV host, Bartiromo is credited as the first reporter to broadcast live from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. Prior to joining Fox Business Network in 2013, she worked at CNN for five years and CNBC for 20 years. At CNBC, she was the anchor of the Closing Bell program and the host and managing editor of On the Money with Maria Bartiromo.

Joanna shared her inspiration for leaving investment banking to pursue launching Dai.

“My eureka moment was on one of those flights on the way back. I just felt so constrained on the waistband and I couldn’t lift my hands above my head. That’s when I thought, ‘why don’t work clothes feel like yoga and can they still look like a powersuit?”

Maria and Joanna cover everything from the right fabrics that are “innovative, stretchy, and breathable, that could make a collection of tailor wear” to factories and mills to direct-to-consumer pricing.

Joanna wears our Pep Top Ivory and Flare Game Trousers Midnight for the on-air interview.
